etymology of a friend's surname...Konzelman
I'm trying to find out the etymology of a friend's surname. The Name is Konzelman & his family is from Germany. He was told that it means "counsel-man" or "pulpit-person". From what little I know about ancient germanic culture it strikes me that the name could have developed from somebody that sat up high on a burial mound speaking for the ancestors and dispensing counsel (priesthood or royalty perhaps). Anyway, just guesswork on my part. Any and all info would be greatly appriciated. Thanks.
