Meaning of a Bosnian surname
Is there anybody who knows the origin and meaning of a Bosnian surname Ðikiæ? If you can't see all the characters it can be spelled Djikic, and it's pronounced Geekich. It's a Bosnian Muslim family from the town of Mostar in Herzegovina, and a part of the town bears the name Ðikovina. It resembles the formation of of Herzegovina, if it can help - Herzeg-Duke in German, possessive masculine suffix -ov (belonging to the Duke), feminine ending -ina (to denote it is a land or country, since countries are feminine in Bosnian). I suppose the root is Ðik-. This is as far as I got. Can anybody help me??? Thank you in advance!
