I have ancestors whose surname was BREBURDA. They lived in Bohemia,now the Czech Republic. No one seems to know the ancestry or meaning of this name. Now I've found there is a region in Romania called BREBU. Could "Breburda" have been derived from BREBU? I have found out that some German-Bohemians settled in this region. Also, BREBU was a Jewish Shetl at one time. Any connection?
