Most likely a derivative of Murdock, or Murdoch. Historical documentation, as late as the mid-1800's refer to my ancestors as Murdock, but can also reference the surname of Murdick - even, on occasion, in the same document. If, in fact the surname was originally Murdock, my particular family surname of Murdick has been documented since the early 1800's. There are Murdick's all over the world and particularly in the USA. My family surname, from the early 1800's has been Murdick and is to this day. I welcome feedback to verify, add to, or refute my comments above.
