I adore George, but I love the nicknames Georgie and George on a girl so much that I don't know if I could use it on a boy! I do not know a single George.
And I totally get your conflicting regal/doofus feelings about the name - I have the same ones! It's such a complicated name in its simplicity. I love it because it has such a friendly sound to it.
I think the name George or Georgie on a little boy would be so adorable. Oh man, now I'm falling for George!
