Elias' younger brother Stephen (34) was killed in the war, and his wife, Milena (33), had died a year before. His children--Catherine (17) and her husband (Ulysses, 19) with their daughter (Esther, 1 mo.), Gregory (15), Christopher (13), Brendan (11), Salacia (9), Ophelia (7), and Louis (6)--are without a home, with the exception of Catherine and Ulysses. Elias and Drusilla want to take them in but are not sure as of yet whether they can afford it. Ulysses has offered to help pay for food for them, as has Elias' other siblings--Jemima, Maximilian, Isaac, William, and Veronica.

Elias is glad that the new laws have been set up. He feels that they are absolutely fair and that it was high time they came about.
