I feel like most names, that are popular, are popular for two generations. I don't find this unusual. Ones that weren't popular at any other times are harder to find, but exist.
For example,
Caitlin and
Hayley were common for Millennials, but also Gen Z. The spellings changed a bit, I feel like a Millennial is more likely to be
Caitlin,
Katelyn,
Hayley or
Haley, whereas a Gen Z is more likely to be
Kaitlyn or
Hailey.
I can think of so many names that were popular among Millennials and Gen Z, such as
Hayley,
Caitlin,
Ashley,
Samantha,
Alexis,
Alyssa,
Lauren,
Dylan,
Justin,
Natalie,
Taylor,
Jessica,
Jasmine,
Morgan,
Jordan etc.
I think a few decades ago, names stayed popular for even longer so they often spanned two generations or three (but they were usually classics, so don't count, I guess). I mean, maybe
Carol or
Pamela, but then again I'm not sure if at any point in history they were already popular.
