Johanna and Jonna come from the same root but they sound completely different. Johanna is jo-HAN-uh or yo-HAN-uh depending on your background, whereas Jonna is just JON-uh.I've never heard of Jonna the Whale so I would never associate the name Jonna with whales. I think of a friend from uni named Jonna.The only spelling I like for Johanna is, well, Johanna. I also like Joanna which is of course pronounced differently.
