Britain
Yes you read correct. I heard this on a girl. I could have maybe understand if she was Japanese or soemthing but she was a British subject. I think out of all the country names, that is the worst.Edit: Make that second worst, after Turkey.
We hit it off straight away because we both love the same thing...Me!

Britain? You're kidding. That's dumb. Poor girl is right...
Other bad ones include Turkey, Czechoslovakia, Japan, Indonesia, Australia, Niger, South Africa (that would be worse), Greenland, etc. etc.

Well, Britain is certainly a better name than Turkey.

Also better than Czecoslavacia (No idea how to spell that!)Not anything that I would even think about naming my daughter, but I do think it could be cute if they called her Britta.

I knew a girl once...named Britton. According to this site it's a masculine name, but at least it's a real name and not just the name of a country. :-) I agree, though, that Britain would be pretty bad. I think an American named America would be incredibly cheesy.

According to the Social Security administration site, there were 601 girls born in the USA in 2004 named America. (I think most of them were probably of Hispanic ancestry.) So there are a lot of parents in the USA who don't share your opinion about this being "cheesy". :)

I've met a few guys named Briton so I guess Britian isn't too bad, especially if the person is actually Brittish, no different than using the name America in the States.

I like the name Brittan, which is cute. And doesn't make me think of the country, although prounounced the same.

I know a girl named Brittin, she's about 19. I don't think the name is that bad, just the spelling Britain. It sounds just like a nickname that many Brittany's have. I would never name my child that, but would prefer Brittin over Britain. Not as bad as Madison if you ask me!Proud Auntie to: Robert Joseph and Brady Lovander, Juliana Mae and Sophia Lee, and now Graham Joseph born December 10, 2005

Well no worse than Ireland, China and IndiaAnd similar-sounding Brittany is also a girl's name. Not that I like place names as first names. I guess her parents are great patriots?"But it’s all right now.

I went to school with a girl named 'Brittian' so I don't find it that unusual.

I could stomach Britania, but just Britain? Hopefully she'll go by her middle name.Aeon: I know I came here to kill you...

I don't think it sounds too bad, actually, and I HATE place names. I would prefer a spelling like Britten, though, to distance it from the exact same spelling as the country, making it more a varient of Brittany or something.

Poor girl...Well, it could be worse. At least she could use Brit or Brid as a nickname. It's not nearly as bad as Turkey (or imagine being named Hungary!)"Les yeux sont aveugles. Il faut chercher avec le coeur." -- Le Petit Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupery
