very verbal and I read extensively, but I don't remember ever having come across the word august! Maybe I'm not so verbal and well-read, afterall! Thank you for the lesson.

Lol, I've only ever heard it in one context. Because he works in the public sector, my dad jokingly calls himself "an august public servant" in a deep booming voice. He has a ridiculously large vocabulary ... I don't think it's used much at all.

Me, too. Maybe I've just skipped over or not noticed the word. Who knows! Or maybe I'm having a senior moment right now. Anyway, I'm sure to remember the word from now on.
