[Opinions] Re: Idris and Thora
in reply to a message by Caroline
If I came across a child named Idris I might wonder if they were named after Idris Elba so I definitely think it can work on a non-Welsh person. I like it.
I met some people a while ago who had a daughter named Idris. They gave quite complicated reasons why they chose that name and she had a very unusual middle name as well but I can't remember the details now.
Thora is a bit cranky and intense for me. Not my style along with similar names like Thea. Also makes me think of the late Thora Hird (who was a very well respected actress).

Oh, Hinterland! I remember watching that a few months ago. I didn't know that would be shown in America. What did you think of it? There were a lot of comparisons with the kind of Scandinavian noir type dramas that there have been a lot of lately. I think they are making a second series which would be good.
Sorry for the OT tangent! I could talk about TV just as easily (maybe more so) than names! But from a name pov, I remember seeing a lot of nice Welsh names in the credits. :-)

It's on Netflix. Lots of British mystery dramas are on Netflix and I love them. Before this I watched Happy Valley, which I liked a lot. Hinterland is interesting so far, but it's so dark and the landscape is so grim!
