From the region of Spain called Andalucia once called Al-Ándalus (a classical Arab name for the Iberian Peninsula). The Penninsula (Roman Hispania) was ruled by the Moors (Maghrebine Berbers) for approximately 800 years and occupied almost the entire and later diminished portions of the Iberian penninsula until they were completely expelled from the penninsula in 1492.
