Meaning & History
Brandybuck is the surname of Meriadoc, a young Hobbit in J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings." Possibly derived from the Brandywine River, which in turn is derived from Sindarin Baranduin, "Brown River". The second element of the name comes from the fact that the Brandybucks reside in Buckland on the eastern edge of the Shire. Frodo Baggins's mother was a Brandybuck.
