Variant of Creevy. It is a shortened and Anglicized form of Gaelic Ó Craobhaigh, or Ó Craoibhe, ‘descendant of Craobhach’, a byname which means ‘curly(-headed)’ or ‘prolific’ (from craobh ‘branch, bough’). It can also be a shortened Anglicized form of Gaelic Mac Riabhaigh, see McGreevy.
