Meaning & History
From Chinese 爾朱 (ěrzhū), from a place named Erzhuchuan (尔朱川), now Zhujiachuan in northwestern Shanxi province. This was the residence of the Qihu tribe. After Han assimilation, many changed their names to Zhu.
