Meaning & History
Variant of Van Rompade, which is a variant spelling of VAN RUMPADE. Like the aforementioned two surnames, this surname also originated in the Middle Ages. However, unlike them, Van Rompaey still exists today. It is rather rare in the Netherlands, where it only has a handful of bearers - but it is quite common in Flanders, where it has over 900 bearers.
