Carol does have a dated feel to it, however, Carole definitely seems lighter, more musical, more delicate, more something. Of course, when spoken, the names are equally dated. Still, it's a pretty name. Caroly reminds me of the surname of the Hungarian gymnastics coach. I think his name is spelled differently, though. WDYT of Carolie? OTOH, that's one letter away from Caroline and it might be confused for that.
